Deep Clean Your Way to Clearer Skin

You religiously wash your face twice a day so you witness firsthand the dirt and makeup running down the sink each time. Yet your skin still feels unclean. Worse – you are experiencing acne. What are you doing wrong?

For starters, you may want to reconsider how you cleanse. Although you put forth a good effort, only washing the surface may not get rid of a day’s grime. Those tricky little pores are perfect hiding places for dirt and oil. Once clogged, multiple stopped up pores will eventually turn into a breakout.

What you really need, in addition to washing your face twice a day, is deep cleaning sessions twice a week. But don’t worry – you can do these at home and they are easy to accomplish. All you need are a face steamer and face wash.

Open Your Pores

To clear away dirt and oil inside, you need to first open your pores. You can do this by steaming your face. The steam raises your temperature, dilates your blood vessels and opens your pores. Once your pores are open, what’s trapped inside is easier to get out. If you don’t have a store bought steamer, you can always boil a pot of water and place your face above it. Just make sure you don’t burn yourself.

Wash Your Face

After you have opened the pores, scrub and clean your face with a good face wash. If you experience acne, pick a cleanser with salicylic acid. If you have sensitive skin, use a gentle foam cleanser. Make sure you scrub well and cover all areas of your face.
