Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation

BENEFITS

A Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation Laser Treatment, or N-Lite laser treatment, is a non-invasive and cosmetic procedure that utilizes yellow laser wavelengths to correct fine facial lines, wrinkles, sun damage, superficial scars and acne damage. Unlike CO2 and Erbium laser treatments, which ablate, or vaporize layers of the skin for new skin growth, a Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) system is designed to stimulate collagen regeneration through heat abortion into the skin and blood cells. Treatment is usually described as painless, and recovery times are generally minimal to non-inexistent.

DESCRIPTION OF TREATMENT

A Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation process begins when the provider maneuvers a medical device over the area to be treated. The device is then controlled to deliver a specified wavelength of laser energy into the target areas. Smaller blood vessels, located just beneath the skin's surface, absorb the laser's concentration of heat, thus destroying acne-causing bacteria and stimulating healthy collagen production. It is only the treated, targeted areas of skin that are affected by the Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) system. All other surrounding tissue areas are left unaffected.

A full Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation treatment usually lasts 15-25 minutes, but individual times may vary. The length of almost any laser skin resurfacing treatment is dependent upon the chosen wavelength, the condition of the area and the number of areas being treated. Most patients report a slight heating sensation, with minimal to zero discomfort. A single treatment may be efficient for the correction of mild acne scars, however, optimal results generally require several sessions, scheduled 4-8 weeks apart. In most cases, Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation treatments require little recovery time, if any, and individuals return to normal activities immediately after.

Only the targeted areas of skin are affected during this procedure; therefore, downtime or recovery is minimal and or non-existent.

Final results are generally seen over the course of 3-4 months.

SIDE EFFECTS

Although extremely rare, slight redness or swelling may occur after treatment.

SAFETY

Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation is FDA approved for wrinkle reduction and the treatment of inflammatory acne.

AVERAGE COST

The average cost of Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation treatments vary with the condition of the area, or areas treated. A full-face treatment can cost up to $1,000-$1,500. A partial, or single area treatment can range from $800-$900. The cost of treatment is greatly dependent upon the provider and location of the medical facility.
